On Friday 13 October 2023, in line with World Food Day, 2,000 volunteers comprising of our Zam Fam team members, franchise partners, suppliers and customers gathered across every corner of Australia to pack over 400,000 meals for those in need at our annual Plate 4 Plate Day meal packing events.

A BIG thank you also to our incredible Zam Fam in restaurants and our amazing customers who visited restaurants on the day to get their Feel Good Mex. 

We DOUBLED DONATIONS in every restaurant for participating orders on the day which included (big or regular) burrito, bowl, kids Zam Box and retail items.

These meal packs contain a nutritious combination of rice, soy and dehydrated vegetables, fortified with a vitamin mix, specifically designed to supplement the diet of malnourished individuals. Each meal contains 20 vitamins and minerals. These meals not only provide nourishment, but also support education, skills training, and health services that support the difficult journey out of poverty.

Our distribution partner is Rise Against Hunger. They are now directing our Plate 4 Plate meals to communities within hunger pockets designated “serious” or higher on the Global Hunger Index. A large percentage of these donated meals willl be distributed through school feeding programs to support children’s nutritional needs and education.

Plate 4 Plate is why we do what we do. It’s what gets us up and rollin’. Every time a customer buys a regular or big burrito, bowl, Kids Zam Box or retail item a meal is donated to someone in the need around the world through our Plate 4 Plate Initiative.

The meals donated are distributed by Rise Against Hunger around the globe, primarily through early childhood development feeding programs and via our partnership with LoveMercy to Women in Uganda. In Australia, meals are distributed locally through our partner, Foodbank.
